Objective: To gain confidence in using Google Slides as a tool to enhance teaching and learning in a 21st century classroom.

Description:Google Slides is an online presentation app that allows you to show off your work in a visual way. Users of Google Slides can work alone or together to create, edit and share presentations.

Participants will choose one of the following activities: - revise an existing syllabus in Word or google doc into a Slides file - work collaboratively with a colleague to create a google slideshow - import an existing Powerpoint into google drive; open & edit it using Slides - use the Comment Feature on a sample student slideshow to give feedback

I use google slides for my syllabus. This allows parents and students to focus on specific aspects and expectations of the course. Example: https://goo.gl/fUsGn3

We use common MCAS Bell Ringers every day to start Algebra and Geometry. Each month, Alg and Geom classes use a different slideshow. Any changes made to the google slideshow are seen instantly by all members of the department. Example: https://goo.gl/WKs1mr

Students can use google slides to show what they know. Each slide can focus on a specific concept. I can comment on a slide, image, concept, etc to let them know that something may need to be revised/ added, and students can respond to my feedback. Ex. See last two slides: https://goo.gl/9bPB8C

Students can work together on a project. Each student can have a device open and they can be collaborating on the same product. Example: https://goo.gl/hJQSiG

In math, sometimes I want students exploring a concept using "virtual manipulatives". Requiring students to submit screenshots of various stages of their work on a Google slideshow helps them stay more engaged and helps teachers see what students did throughout a class period. Example: https://goo.gl/bv7VCA

Advice for Implementation: Using Google Docs and Google Slides results in a new mindset, that Google offers a superior product to Microsoft, which is outdated and limited.
