Teaching One-to-One
Objective: Teachers will have a better understanding of how to use one-to-one laptops on a daily basis with their students, with help with trouble-shooting tips, classroom management and useful internet applications for student engagement.
Description: We will provide a list of trouble-shooting ideas for simple fixes in the classroom, from accessing wifi to setting up charging stations to quick checks on timestamps for assignments. We will provide suggestions for setting up desks and monitoring screens while students work collaboratively and independently. Finally, we will provide a list of apps used throughout every curricula that will keep students engaged as well as help grade assessments to reduce paperwork for teachers.
When students have the option to participate anonymously, their responses are more honest. When students feel safe and comfortable in the classroom, they take risks in their learning.
Advice for Implementation: When changing routines and when working with technology, stay the course. Keep with one app and use it nearly daily so that students can build independence. When using technology, figure out how long it takes computers to log on and turn on so that you can prepare class around it without frustration.
