Verso Online Discussion
Objective: To allow for class discussion while maintaining each students' engagement and allowing for students to feel safe and protected.
Description: Verso allows students to discuss or debate anonymously online without the fear of other students' judgement but also allows the teacher to control and monitor student interaction. In classes that are very shy or too rambunctious, it allows for students to to debate without having to force students to speak or shout over each other.
Advice for Implementation: I have utilized this in my Current Issues classes where students are too shy to speak out. If you limit the number of responses, sometimes students shut down and become frustrated. You still have to monitor what they are saying and guide discussion if the comments become complacent.
