Learn and Teach Using Schoology

Level: Novice to Intermediate

Objective: In this session, participants will be introduced to www.schoology.com, a free, award-winning, online learning management system.

Description: The goals of the session are to introduce Schoology, and to provide time for participants to explore Schoology as both a learner and teacher.

I have used Schoology with my students for over four years, and find it to be a powerful instructional vehicle. Schoology is streamlined, cutting edge, and intuitive for both students and teachers. My students use Schoology to access digital files, view videos, complete discussions, take polls, formative and summative assessments, communicate with me, and to submit assignments.

Students with short or long-term absences, or in alternative learning environments such as ACE and LINKS, can keep up with the course virtually. Parents can join Schoology to provide additional support to students.

Schoology helps teachers stay organized. Students can find things easily, as resources can be saved to digital folders, which correspond to current or past units of instruction.

Schoology allows instructors to save entire courses, which can be shared with teachers new to a particular course.
